Elizabeth House - The Caring Continues
Elizabeth House is a private non-profit treatment centre for pregnant women, including pregnant teens, and young mothers. We empower and equip them for their roles as care-givers and parents, and to be independent adults. Although we mainly work with young mothers and mothers-to-be, we help fathers, too. Through our work with the parents we help their babies and children.
Our mission is to positively impact the lives of young children whose parents require intensive support and intervention to improve their capacity to parent.
Elizabeth House offers both residential and external programs, including a high school for pregnant teens and new mothers.
In all of our programs we offer:- Pre-natal support
- Parenting skills
- Psycho-social support
- Independent living and life skills
- Counselling, advocacy, referral and accompaniment services
Our offices, residence and school are located in Montreal. We work with pregnant women and parents in our residential and educational programs, in supported independent living settings and in the community. We have been providing services and support to young mothers and pregnant women in difficulty since 1968.
Our residential programs are open to girls and women from across the province of Québec. Our external services are offered to moms-to-be and young parents living in the Greater Montreal area or within 100 kilometres.
If you are pregnant and need extra help to prepare for motherhood, or if you need help to meet the challenges of parenting a young child (from newborn to 5 years old), ask your doctor, your CLSC, your social worker, or your high school counsellor for a referral to Elizabeth House.
We do not accept self-referrals. If you’re not sure who to call, we can help direct you to the person to call for a referral.

Vision, Mission and Values Statement
Elizabeth House: We are a private rehabilitation centre that offers a continuum of intensive intervention and specialized support services to parents, particularly young mothers and mothers-to-be, experiencing serious difficulties in their parenting role. We work to optimize the emotional and physical development of our co-clients - the parents and their young children - and to foster the development of a permanent parenting plan for each child. Our approach to treatment is relationship-based, focused on the strengths of the individual. We work with the parents in our residential, external and educational programs, in supported independent living settings and in the community. We serve the English speaking community of Quebec.
Our vision is a world where children are safe, secure and loved and where parents are supported and empowered so that they all have the opportunity to develop to their full potential.
